Bunkering & Fuel

Bunkering & Fuel runs a stem from the first enquiry to the settled invoice: request quotes, compare them, award one, take delivery, test the fuel and raise a claim if the delivery fell short.

The screen

Three tabs: Stems, RFQs, Market prices.

Stems opens with a ROB burn-down (fuel remaining on board over time) and a price trend, then four cards — Active Stems, Delivered, Total Qty, Total Spend. The first two filter the list. Expand a stem for its details, financials, BDN and quality, a quantity variance table (BDN tonnes against the ship's figure, per grade) and the samples and claims drawer.

RFQs is a board of your enquiries. With a live price feed it shows the market level per ticket; without one it says "tape off".

Requesting quotes and awarding

  1. New RFQ: vessel, port, delivery window, one or more grades with quantity (and a maximum sulphur if you need it), the suppliers to invite, notes. Create RFQ.
  2. On the RFQ page, dispatch the enquiry by email, or record that you contacted a supplier outside the app. Enter each quote's prices as they arrive. The Quote Comparison table and the spread board show who is cheapest per grade and in total.
  3. Award. The dialog tells you exactly what will happen: a new stem is created as Confirmed, the other quotes are marked Lost, and the RFQ closes. It also says that this cannot be undone from the screen — to reverse it, cancel the resulting stem from the Stems tab.

Delivery, quality and claims

After delivery, record the test: sample number, lab, sulphur, viscosity, density, water, cat fines, flash point, and whether it meets ISO 8217. Create claim appears only when the delivery was short.

What it will and won't do

  • Creating an RFQ refuses without a vessel, with a delivery window that ends before it starts, or without at least one grade with a positive quantity.
  • Awarding runs a sanctions check on the supplier. If the supplier has never been screened, or the screen is stale, you are asked to acknowledge before proceeding, and your name is recorded against that decision.
  • Cancelling an RFQ keeps the quotes but allows no further award.

Stem statuses: Inquiry, Quoted, Confirmed, Delivered, Sampled, Quality OK, Claim Raised, Settled, Cancelled.
